About us
This website was created by the Human Rights Resilience Project. The Project seeks to promote resilience and improve mental health and well-being among human rights advocates. The members of the project conduct research into mental health, promote awareness of well-being issues in the human rights, offer trainings and mentoring, and work to support the development of a global community of practice engaged in collective learning about resilience.
Rohini Bagrodia
Rohini Bagrodia graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, and holds a dual BA in Biological Sciences, concentrating in Neurobiology, and Economics.
Adam Brown
Adam Brown is a Clinical Psychologist and Director of the Trauma and Global Mental Health Lab. He holds academic appointments as an Associate Professor of Psychology at the New School for Social Research and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine. His research focuses primarily on mental health and trauma and he is involved in a number of initiatives related to wellbeing in human rights advocates and defenders.
Sarah Knuckey
Sarah Knuckey is faculty co-director of the Human Rights Institute, director of the Human Rights Clinic, and the Lieff Cabraser Associate Clinical Professor of Law at Columbia Law School. She has conducted investigations of human rights and humanitarian violations around the world.
Margaret Satterthwaite
Margaret Satterthwaite is the Faculty Director of the Robert L. Bernstein Institute for Human Rights and a Faculty Director of the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice at NYU School of Law. She is a Professor of Clinical Law and Director of the Global Justice Clinic.
Ria Singh Sawhney
Ria Singh Sawhney is a Human Rights Advocate in India. She was a Research Fellow at the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice at NYU Law, where she coordinated research relating to mental health and well-being within human rights organizations. She has an LLM from Columbia Law School.
Alexandra Zetes
Alexandra Zetes is the Global Advocacy & Policy Manager at the Refugee Solidarity Network. She is a recent graduate of NYU School of Law, and has almost ten years of experience in the human rights field.
Katie Wightman
Katie Wightman is the Executive Director of the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice (CHRGJ) at NYU School of Law. Katie is an Australian lawyer with an LL.M. from NYU and extensive experience working with trauma survivors.
