About Abdulai

My name is Abdulai Deadehwai Swaray. I am a trained and qualified Social Development Worker, dedicated child rights advocate, and the Founder and Executive Director of a National NGO known as Pikin-To-Pikin Movement. Pikin-To-Pikin is a lingua franca translation of child to child. The organisation is a child centered community development organisation dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and communities. With a Master’s degree in Development Policies and Practices, I am passionate about working with vulnerable and marginalized communities. I am deeply committed to social justice, particularly in advancing the well-being of children. In my personal time, I enjoy reading novels, conducting research, and engaging with children through play. Known for my honesty and trustworthiness, I believe in the power of community-driven change. With a strong commitment to social justice and advocacy, I have spent 30 years working to protect children’s rights and foster lasting social change.

As a passionate advocate for social change, I am deeply committed to the well-being, care, and resilience of fellow activists, especially those working in challenging and often traumatic environments. I believe that in order to create sustainable and impactful change, it is essential to prioritize the mental, emotional, and physical health of activists who dedicate their lives to advocating for vulnerable populations. Through my work, I aim to foster an environment of care that supports the emotional resilience of those on the frontlines of social justice. This involves not only providing resources and self-care strategies but also promoting a culture of mutual support and solidarity within activist communities. By nurturing the well-being of activists, we build stronger, more resilient movements that can sustain long-term impact while addressing the personal challenges that come with this important work.

About Pikin-To-Pikin Movement

My organization is dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of children, with a particular focus on vulnerable and marginalized communities. As a national NGO, we work tirelessly to promote and protect child rights through advocacy, education, and community-based initiatives. Our mission is to work with government, communities, development partners, their organizations, and other stakeholders to create and sustain a conducive environment for the growth and well-being of children in Sierra Leone. We collaborate closely with local communities, government bodies, and other stakeholders to implement sustainable programs that address the specific needs of children, from access to education and healthcare to protection from violence and exploitation. Our work is grounded in the belief that every child deserves a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment in which to thrive. Through our efforts, we strive to build a society where children’s voices are heard and their rights are respected, ultimately contributing to a more just and equitable nation for future generations.
